Verona is one of the most romantic cities in Italy.
It all started with William Shakespeare, that decided to set his famous Tragedy Romeo and Juliet in Verona.
Juliet’s balcony is one of the most visited sites in Verona, and you can also visit Juliet’s tomb and Romeo’s house.
That is why on days around Valentine’s Day the city organizes a mini festival with various events.
This year, 2022, the festival takes place from the 11th to the 14th of February.
The town is all dressed up with love decorations, the most interesting probably being the big heart in Piazza dei Signori (also known as Piazza Dante), that can best be seen from the Lamberti Tower.
During the festival there are live talks about love, restaurants offer a dish with the love theme, there’s a Half Marathon, there are events at bookshops, there’s a street market, all in love theme of course.
A new entry for the year 2022 is a National Competition for the best love song by young song-writers.
Verona is a beautiful town all year round, but these days it gets even more romantic and loved.
Verona è una delle città più romantiche d’Italia, viene considerata la città dell’amore per eccellenza. E’ una destinazione ambita per un weekend tra innamorati, e una foto alla casa di Giulietta con la mano sul seno della statua che la rappresenta è quasi d’obbligo (anche se c’è talmente tanta gente che non è molto romantico come momento).
Ma perché tutto questo romanticismo a Verona? Beh, proprio per Shakespeare, che ambientò la tragica storia d’amore tra Romeo e Giulietta in questa città.
A Verona oltre alla casa di Giulietta si possono vedere anche la sua tomba e la casa di Romeo (o quella che insomma avrebbe potuto essere tale).
In occasione della festa di San Valentino, la città organizza una serie di eventi per celebrare l’amore.
Quest’anno, il 2022, Verona in Love si svolge dal 11 al 14 febbraio.
La città è abbellita da decorazioni d’amore, di cui la più importante è probabilmente il grande cuore in Piazza dei Signori (conosciuta anche come Piazza Dante), che si vede meglio dall’alto della Torre dei Lamberti.
Durante il festival ci sono eventi di tutti i tipi, incontri culturali, una mezza maratona, i ristoranti offrono dei piatti particolari a tema, un mercato a tema, tutto rosso e tutto romantico, ovviamente.
La novità del 2022 è “Premio Arte d’Amore”, un premio per la migliore canzone d’autore sull’amore, un concorso nazionale dedicato ai giovani artisti.
Verona è una città bellissima che merita una visita tutto il periodo dell’anno, ma a San Valentino diventa ancora più romantica e si fa amare ancora di più.
